My Parts: An Unintentional Series
This is an ongoing series of posts that usually get written on accident. My parts show up when I’m dealing with something difficult and they tend to take over. They end up writing some of my very favorite, most human, pieces.
The parts work I do is my own loose interpretation of Internal Family Systems therapy. I don’t strictly follow the traditional IFS protocol and my therapist and I don’t push or solely focus on parts work - it comes up when it comes up, when it’s needed. Meeting, investigating, and supporting these parts of me in my own way, mostly through storytelling, has changed my life.
I post new pieces regularly. Subscribe to receive my posts directly in your inbox and make all of my parts sing.
How I Got Out of Bed: A conversation with my Couch part who experiences most of my depression.
Pieces of a Heart: My dramatic part and the stories she told us while going through a breakup.
A Beginning and an Ending: Meeting and managing the sneaking manager. Also my first post on Substack!
My Drunk Part: Letting my drunk part be seen and held instead of judged.
How I Fell in Love with Myself : Meeting my first part, the young poet, an explanation of IFS therapy, and what my parts being aligned feels like.
If this resonates with you and you’d like to work with your parts in a similar way with me, please feel free to reach out.
