Thank you for sharing this. I may try the right hand/left hand parts talking :). The way you wrote about it helped me feel more patience and compassion for those insecure parts of me as well.
A little disclaimer as I continue to learn: I am not really doing traditional IFS protocol. My therapist and I have done some "IFS lite" work and I have taken what resonated and developed my own version of working with my parts that works for me. It's heavily storytelling based and it's changing my life - but it is NOT traditional IFS by the books. ❤️
hi Stephanie! This is Allison – Ky came across this sub stack and shared a different post with me (I don't remember which one) and I'm just beginning to follow you. Loved this post because I am doing I am IFS work too! I have trouble working with my parts outside of therapy and mine surround me in a wooded clearing instead of around a table. i've got a lot of managers that want to do this work "right" and want to have a full map of all of our parts already and find the whole thing messy and confusing, and they can slow me down and get in the way but I am learning how to work with them. So interesting to cross paths in this new way, don't you think?
Allison! Hi! It's so good to see you here!! I LOVE that our paths are crossing in this way and that you're also working with your parts. I totally hear you on wanting a full map - I've felt that way too. We don't always focus on it in my coaching sessions, only when they come up, so that might be why I'm feeling more relaxed about it. Maybe your managers are helping you move at exactly the right pace. ;). I hope you and your family are so well. ❤️❤️❤️

I love this, Cathie! I'm excited to hear how it works for you if you feel like sharing. ❤️
